Five members of Japan's national rugby team have met thousands of fans after the team made it to the final eight for the first time in World Cup play.

Taking part in the event was national team captain Michael Leitch; Kotaro Matsushima who scored five tries, more than any other players on the team; scrum-half Yutaka Nagare; centre Ryoto Nakamura; and flanker Yoshitaka Tokunaga.

Fuchu City honored the five along with two other rugby players who are members of the national squad with a special sports award. Leitch was also given a citizen honor award.
