In 2011, after graduating from Tokai University Michael joined Toshiba Brave Lupus in Japan’s Top League.

Later that same year he played impressively well at the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand.

In Michael`s first season with Toshiba he was named in the League's Team of the Season and given the award of "Revelation of the Season". Every year since Michael has been named in the Team of the Season as captain, thereby confirming his class and ability at the very top level.

A crucial member of Toshiba Brave Lupus, Michael was named captain of the team for the 2013/14 season, leading them to the final against Panasonic in the All Japan Championship.

Founded by workers at Toshiba in 1948, the club plied their trade in the East Japan Regional League from 1988 until the inaugural Top League season in 2003. Toshiba Brave Lupus, with ‘Lupus’ meaning Wolves in Latin, have enjoyed a huge deal of success during the Top League era. Since the league’s inception in 2003, the club have consistently finished in the top four of the regular season and have gone on to win the Top League Champions’ Cup on five occasions.
